URGENT UPDATE - GMB DISPUTE REGARDING CONTRACT PROPOSALS.
As previously notified to yourselves the GMB entered into formal dispute with Birmingham City Council and we held open and frank discussions with the officers to attempt to settle the dispute which was lodged in relation to the sick pay proposals. We had hoped that the Council would have made their decision by midday today to resolve and to remove the sick pay proposals.
We have still had no notification from the Council that they have made any decision and therefore the GMB has been left with no alternative than to start the balloting for industrial action with yourselves.
I shall be writing to you all on Monday with an indicative ballot paper of which will give me a firm indication of what your intentions will be in relation to this matter. Can I ask you all to return the ballot paper as quickly as possible before we instigate the next steps in order to strengthen our arguments.
We have of course hope the Council realise how serious we are and bring this dispute to a swift conclusion.
We are also aware that not every member will have access to this email so would you please discuss with your colleagues and share the information as widely as possible including your non GMB colleagues as it is only GMB that are taking this action.
Yours in solidarity
