GMB Birmingham & West Midlands Region

Retired Members

The GMB has a Retired Members Association (RMA), which is continuing to grow. Retired members and their partners are urged to maintain an active interest in the RMA and the work of the Union.

Members join the GMB to protect and advance their interest at work and the same applies in retirement.

The RMA aims to campaign on behalf of retired GMB members to bring about dignity in retirement and works together with like-minded pensioner groups. These aims and objectives are about furthering the interests and aspirations of retired members and their partners and the RMA is part of the wider pensioner movement, campaigning at all levels of Government.

Each GMB Region is also represented by two delegates on the RMA National Committee.

The Regional RMA meets three/four times a year. The meetings for 2016 are as follows:

Thursday 18th February 2016

Thursday 19th May 2016

Thursday 18th August 2016

Thursday 17th November 2016

Every retired member is welcome to attend as long as their Branch is affiliated to the association.

We would like to encourage more retired members to become active - if you'd like further information, please contact your Branch or the Regional Retired Members Co-ordinator David Day. The Regional Retired Members Co-Ordinator David Day can be contacted on 01905 612 210 or you can email RMAwestmids@gmb.org.uk

Branches are automatically affiliated to the RMA each year at a cost of £25.00 if you have 250 members or more on the Branch, and £15.00 if you have under 250 members on the Branch. You can opt out if you do not wish to pay into the RMA, if this is the case then please contact David Day at Halesowen Regional Office.
